Please forward out to your communities that the county has been experiencing a serge in copper larcenies from varies construction and building sites throughout the county. Please have them be alert to the presence of vehicles and persons on construction sites after hours.

The sites targeted have primarily been commercial construction sites and the perpetrators are forcing entry into the large steel shipping containers that the construction companies use for storage. The events are taking place sometime between sunset and approx. 5:30 am. Please encourage your community members to call in any suspicious persons or activity they may see around similar locations.  If the caller can provide the best possible vehicle description including color, style (pick-up, van, etc.) license plate number, number of people in the vehicle, and direction of travel this information is critical in getting the deputies into the right location to intercept the vehicle should it leave the scene prior to their arrival.
